Easter Events at Fota Wildlife Park 2023

Hop into Easter Fun at Fota Wildlife Park with Live Events for the Whole Family

To commemorate 40 years of Fota Wildlife Park this year, we are bringing back a programme of live events for the Easter season.

Fota Wildlife Park, a conservation charity, opened to the public on the 23rd of June 1983 as a zoological visitor attraction that protects biodiversity, participates in endangered breeding and reintroduction programmes, and provides wildlife education to thousands of children and adults every year.  Since 1983, Fota Wildlife Park has grown from a 70 acre to a 100-acre facility and welcomes over 460,000 visitors annually.

 

Enjoy feeding times at Fota Wildlife Park 

From the 17th of March a daily schedule of Feeding Times will be available! Visitors can watch the Rangers feed the animals at set times. Feeding times are free with entry. No booking is required to attend (please note, may be subject to change with no prior notice).

**New** An eggs-cellent fun trail coming Thursday 6th!

**New ** From Thursday 6th March** As part of our programme of live events that the whole family can enjoy this Easter at Fota Wildlife Park, you’ll be hopping mad to discover our fun-facts-filled Easter Egg Trail around the Park. Just follow the QR codes on each cluster of Easter Eggs, and you get to take part in a fun interactive quiz on your journey through the Park.
Each cluster of eggs features a special egg from some of the many birds that are at home at Fota Wildlife Park! Everyone who participates and gets a minimum of 50% right (10 answers), will get a limited edition Fota at 40 Badge (subject to availability) and a digital certificate! Just go the gift shop and show your answers to our team to claim your badge!

Experience Interactive Live Workshops this Easter

This Easter break, there will be a series of workshops available to pre-book.

Connect with Nature: Join Peter Dowdall for an Interactive Workshop on Plants and Biodiversity

 

When: Wednesday 5th April at 13:30 pm

Join Peter Dowdall for a 50-minute workshop where Peter will talk about some of the natural connections here in Fota Wildlife Park and how some of the animals need the plants and equally the plants need the animals for their survival.

In an interactive, walk and talk workshop, Peter will educate and teach about the necessity and importance of common weeds and their essential function in maintaining biodiversity and their role in supporting pollinators. Peter will enlighten about the plants, large and small, in Fota Wildlife Park and how they complement the cycle of biodiversity.

Peter will also give advice on what you can do in your own backyard and garden to encourage this cycle and help pollinators flourish.

Peter Dowdall is a popular Irish radio and television personality who is well known for his lifelong passion and love for gardening. He is the Gardening Columnist for the Irish Examiner newspaper and he has presented several gardening shows on RTE, RTE1 and the BBC. He hosts a weekly show called “Ask the expert” on Cork Today on C103FM, where he answers listeners gardening queries.

Pre- book your slot for this Workshop date: Wed 5th April at 13.30

The workshop is free with entry, pre-booking is necessary and will be open to book from 1st April  , parental or guardian supervision is required throughout the workshop.

Workshop meeting point is at the Meerkat Habitat inside the Main Entrance, please arrive ahead of the start of the event (approx. 5-10 minutes in advance).  Subject to availability.

Get Ready for a Fun and Educational Experience with Learnit’s Award- Winning STEM Workshops (ALMOST BOOKED OUT)

An Irish family-owned company, Learnit was established in 2009 and is the only official partner of LEGO® Education in Ireland and the only Irish company who can boast of having LEGO Education Academy Trainers.

Through award-winning camps and workshops, children not only gain a deeper understanding of STEM subjects but also learn how to think creatively, solve problems and work as a team while gaining key life skills in the process.

Using LEGO to inspire the ‘Creators of Tomorrow’, Learnit helps children explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) in fun and innovative ways. Learnit workshops can cater for 24 – 30 children per session, depending on the workshop chosen. (Please note that siblings and friends may share a console up to a max of three for Junior Robotics).

Learnit – WeDo Junior Robotics Workshops (children aged 6 – 12)

Time – 1.30pm to 2.15pm
Venue – Marquee by Oasis Café
